Reinstate Service and Energise Installation Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS)Â
SWMS OverviewÂ
This SWMS covers the safe process for reinstating the electrical service and energising an installation after work or disconnection. The primary hazards include electric shock, arc flash, equipment failure, and improper reconnection leading to fire or injury.
Control measures include confirming the integrity of the installation, verifying correct wiring and connections, and ensuring all safety checks and tests are completed. Energisation must only occur after confirmation that the system is safe and compliant with applicable standards. Personnel must wear appropriate arc-rated PPE, use insulated tools, and follow electrical safety testing protocols.
Only licensed electricians may perform this task, and all work must comply with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3017, and relevant WHS regulations. A final visual inspection, continuity test, polarity test, and voltage verification are required before applying power. Documentation and notification to the network provider should be completed as needed.
